 We invite, and encourage, all Grand Rapids area golfers to become
members at The Highlands, a Donald Ross designed golf course. Donald Ross may
be all that needs to be said about the golf course. You can be assured that the
greens will be up to their historically high standards. The overall maintenance
of the golf course will meet or exceed your expectations, and the events and
services from the new, experienced, professional golf staff will add to your
overall golfing experience. The Highlands has long been recognized as one
of the finest golf experiences in the greater Grand Rapids area. This
year we are celebrating 100 years, 1908-2008. The Highlands has a rich
and proud history in the Grand Rapids area. We welcome you to be
part of the amazing future, where The Highlands will be the
premier Golf Club in West Michigan. Thank you for allowing me to introduce myself. I
am PGA Golf Professional Steve Scheuermann. I have 28 years of
experience working at private, sem i-private, and daily fee golf courses.
For the past ten years, I have been managing two golf facilities at the
same time (27 holes in Holland and 18 holes in Muskegon).
For the past seven years, I have been the
President of the Lake Michigan Junior Golf Association and the Executive
Director of the Lake Michigan Junior Golf Tour comprised of 175 members
playing nine events per year in West Michigan. In 2005 & 2006, I was
honored to be chosen as one of the Top 50 Kid’s Teachers in America by
U.S. Kid’s Golf, the top golf manufacturer of kid’s golf clubs. I have
also been nominated for this honor again in 2007. Four the past twenty
years, I have hosted a live radio golf show, with on air instruction,
rules, etiquette, and golf history, airing 52 shows per year on Holland
Station WHTC AM-1450. For the past two years, I have been a writer for
Urban St. Magazine, a popular full color publication about people,
places, and history in the Holland area. As you can see, I like to be
busy and I am very passionate about everything that I do, especially
involving the game of golf.
My wife Lynn has been in the golf business for
twelve years and has helped me manage the Muskegon golf course. She is
incredibly personable and sincerely devotes her efforts to ensure that
the golf operation runs smoothly. We both enjoy serving golfers and
offer the best customer service possible. Please stop by the golf course
and introduce yourself. We will have office hours all winter and will be
busy planning for a terrific 2008 golf season at The Highlands. For
